The Deuble Foundation
$20,000 Scholarship Committment Honors 20th Year
Thanks to the generous support of the Deuble Foundation, $20,000 will be made available over the next four years for tuition assistance for selected Signature Class participants working in education, non-profit and government sectors.
During LSC's strategic plan process in 2003, it was noted by industry and government leaders that developing a diverse group of community leaders remains an important goal to better our community. This scholarship grant helps insure that all segments of the community are able to take advantage of Leadership Stark County.
Who is eligible for tuition assistance? LSC candidates request tuition assistance if their organizations cannot allocate enough budgetary dollars for the Leadership Stark County tuition.
Why are additional tuition assistance dollars needed when LSC has a Scholarship Endowment Fund? The yearly interest income from the LSC Scholarship Endowment Fund is used for selected candidates to cover up to 50% of the tuition. Selected candidates from government, social service and education fields often find it difficult to fund the other half of the tuition. Candidates use personal income but may still come up short or be hesitant to apply. To help ensure that tuition cost does not prohibit participation, LSC has often relied on other organizations including the Stark Area Chambers of Commerce and the Edward 'Peel' Coleman Memorial Fund for their financial support.
LSC's mission of bringing together a diverse class of individuals is assured thanks to the Deuble grant and alumni scholarship fund efforts.
The Silk Foundation
Leadership Stark County is proud to be the recipient of a grant from the Fred F. Silk Foundation. The Fred F. Silk Foundation grant for website development is enhancing the connections between Leadership Stark County and the entire community. This expanded web presence provides the up-to-date connections and communication necessary to further alumni involvement in local community organizations. Features include:
- 19th Class applicants were able to apply on-line for the first time.
- On-line access to the Alumni Directory beginning late 2005. Alumni can be assured that their work and volunteer information is correct and up-to-date. Search capacities will include the LSC interest inventory for board service. The on-line directory will be password protected.
